To win the Aqua-Neige, the participant must make it as far as they can across the lake. As years have gone by numerous frequent participants are able to cross the lake completely. The competition is comprised of two heats, the winner is determined by the combined distance achieved in both runs.

Aqua-Neige has been a tradition and popular event in the Matapedia region for more than 40 years.

Aqua-Neige is a sporting competition that also encompasses other activities for families. The competition consists of sking or snowboarding down a 700-foot grade with enough speed to cross lac Picalo, a length of 65M.

At the finish line are 6,000 spectators from all corners of Eastern Canada cheering on participants. Kids also have a chance to participate in other activities that are run in parallel with the lake crossings.
